Extruder cleaning guide
Extruder cleaning is an important part of ensuring proper equipment operation and improving productivity and product quality. The following is a detailed guide to extruder cleaning for your reference:
First, the preparation before cleaning
Shutdown and Cooling: Firstly, you need to shut down the extruder and wait for it to cool down sufficiently to a safe temperature to prevent scalding and thermal deformation of the machine.
Safety Protection: Wear the necessary personal protective equipment, such as heat-resistant gloves, goggles, etc., to ensure the safety of the cleaning process.
Preparation of tools: Prepare the tools needed for cleaning, such as copper scraper, copper brush, copper wire mesh, stearic acid, electric drill, barrel ruler, cotton cloth, etc.
Second, cleaning steps
Clean up the residual material
For easy flowing materials, professional hoover can be used for cleaning.
For sticky or easy to residual material, need to use scraper and other tools to clean thoroughly.
Pay special attention to clean the residue in the feeding port, inlet and pipeline.
Disassembly of key parts
Disassemble key parts such as screws, barrels, mould heads, etc. as needed for deeper cleaning.
Be careful not to damage the parts during disassembly and record the disassembly sequence for subsequent assembly.
Cleaning of screw and barrel
Mechanical cleaning: Use rice, corn and other frictionable and easily crushed materials to generate friction between the screw and barrel to remove the resin gelatinised material adhering to the surface. After cleaning, it is necessary to check the cleaning effect, and if necessary, use the resin to clean the machine material for the second cleaning.
Chemical cleaning: put the screw into the organic solvents such as acetone or cyclohexanone and other organic solvents in the tank soak, dissolve the adherents after manual removal. Note that the soaking time should not be too long, in order to prevent solvent corrosion of the screw.
Fire or fire baking method: in the screw immediately after the use of torch cleaning, as the screw with the heat of the process, the heat is evenly distributed, the cleaning effect is better. But be careful not to use acetylene flame and other high-temperature flame, so as not to destroy the metal properties of the screw.
Cleaning the barrel
Use round steel brush screwed drill rod and drill made of cleaning tools, with copper wire mesh for cleaning.
During the cleaning process, you can sprinkle some stearic acid into the barrel to increase the cleaning effect.
After cleaning, wipe the inside surface of the barrel with a cotton cloth to remove any residue.
Inspection and assembly
After cleaning, carefully check whether each part is clean and free of residue.
Re-assemble the parts according to the order of disassembly, and pay attention to applying appropriate amount of lubricant to reduce friction and wear.
Third, the precautions
Safety first: Strictly observe the safety operation regulations during the whole cleaning process to prevent safety accidents.
Protection of equipment: avoid using too hard or too sharp tools to clean the equipment to avoid damage to the surface finish of the equipment.
Environmental protection requirements: the waste liquid and waste generated during the cleaning process should be properly disposed of in accordance with environmental protection requirements.
Regular cleaning: In order to ensure the normal operation and prolong the service life of the extruder, it is recommended that the extruder be cleaned and maintained on a regular basis.
By following the above steps and precautions, the effective cleaning and efficient operation of the extruder can be ensured.
