Screw cleaning of twin-screw extruder is an important part of maintaining normal operation of the equipment and ensuring product quality. The following are the detailed steps and precautions on how to clean the screw of twin-screw extruder:

First. Preparation before cleaning

Turn off the power: first of all, make sure that the twin-screw extruder has been completely shut down, and disconnect the power plug to ensure safety.

Disassemble the shell: disassemble the shell of the machine so that the twin-screw is exposed for easy cleaning.

Prepare cleaning tools: Prepare the necessary cleaning tools, such as metal scraper, brush, hair dryer, cleaner and so on.

Second. Cleaning Steps

Outer surface cleaning:

Use metal scraper to gently scrape off the material accumulated on the outer surface of the screw, pay attention not to scratch the surface of the screw.

When cleaning, according to the nature of the material and the material of the screw to choose the appropriate scraper.

Inner surface cleaning:

Empty all the residual materials inside the screw and clean the inner surface thoroughly with a brush.

For the more serious material attached to the interior, cleaning agents can be used to assist in cleaning. When choosing cleaners, attention should be paid to their types and uses, and avoid using cleaners that are corrosive to the surface of the screw.

Barrel heating:

Heat the barrel to the molding temperature of the residual material in the barrel to facilitate the cleaning of the material.

During the heating process, pay attention to the temperature change of the barrel and screw to avoid too high or too low temperature.

Remove the machine head:

After warming up to the molding temperature, remove the machine head while it is still hot, and tidy up the materials at the end of the barrel hole and the end of the screw.

When removing the head, pay attention to protect the head and screw from damage.

Screw extraction and cleaning:

Loosen the two sleeve couplings, observe and memorize the two screw tail splines and markings according to the type of setscrews at the screw shaft ends.

Remove the setscrews at the head of the two screws, noting that they are left-handed screws, and using the special tool for screw removal, slowly withdraw the two screws outward in a synchronized section.

Use the copper wire brush or copper spatula to remove the material on the surface of the screw while it is still hot.

After all the screws are withdrawn, lay them flat on a wooden board, remove the screw removal tool, remove and organize the screw element while it is hot.

If the material penetrates into the screw mandrel resulting in screw component dismantling difficulties, use a wooden hammer or copper rod along the screw component around the quiet percussion, loose and then take out the component.

Third. Maintenance after cleaning

Lubricant injection: After cleaning, inject a certain amount of lubricant into the screw to ensure the smooth operation of the screw when it is used next time.

Regular inspection: It is recommended to clean and maintain the screw of the twin-screw extruder every month to ensure the normal operation and prolong the service life of the equipment.

Fourth. Precautions

Safe operation: During the whole cleaning process, strictly observe the safety operation regulations to ensure the safety of personnel and equipment.

Choose the right cleaning agent: avoid using the corrosive cleaning agent on the screw surface to avoid unnecessary losses.

Pay attention to the machine model: During the cleaning process, pay attention to the machine model and the instructions for the use of cleaners, so as not to cause secondary pollution or damage to equipment.
